UKIP candidate Nigel Farage has been badly injured in a plane crash today in the midst of election day.

The former leader of UKIP initially appeared to only have suffered "minor head injuries" but it has now been reported he will be spending at least two days in hospital.

He was sat in the front seat of a light aircraft which took off around 0800 this morning. The plane had a promotional UKIP banner attached. The banner got caught in the tail fin shortly before the plane crashed.
