BiG Storage Scoops Two National Awards
BiG Storage, the North West's leading self storage operator, has scooped two awards at a prestigious European industry awards ceremony in Berlin. The awards, Support to the Community 2010 and UK Facility of the Year, were two of six awards presented by the Self Storage Association to recognise and reward best practice in the self storage industry.
The awards were presented at a gala dinner attended by more than 250 self storage professionals from across Europe who had gathered for the Self Storage Association's (SSA) annual conference held in conjunction with Federation of European Self Storage Association (FEDESSA).
Rodney Walker, Chief Executive Officer of SSA UK, comments: “Self Storage is a fast growing and exciting business in the UK and we wanted to recognise those who are setting the standards at the forefront of the industry. The team at BiG Storage has clearly been working hard to support their local community and they have developed facilities that are an excellent example of the very best in the industry.”
The team at Big Storage, that has six facilities throughout Cheshire and Lancashire, were awarded for their support to the community having undertaken more than twenty community orientated projects in the past 18 months. Some of the work undertaken includes; a Christmas Toy Appeal which saw 10,000 toys donated for distribution to local charities and hospitals; the sponsorship of the Cheshire Jets professional basket ball team which included a programme of promoting healthy living to school children; and for work undertaken by co-founder Andrew Donaldson in helping to organise a Gala Ball which raised £250,000 for the Prince's Trust.
BiG Storage's Handforth self storage site also won UK Facility of the Year. The site was opened in 2007 and boasts a storage area the size of two football pitches. The site offers flexible storage solutions to domestic and business users and gives customers unlimited access to their stored items using state of the art fingerprint security systems. For convenience, the site also has two large lifts, 4 loading bays and 3 unique drive through aisles to help customers with the unloading or loading items. The staff on site are also well trained and particular attention is given to achieving excellent customer service.
Paul Fahey concludes: “Altogether it was a great night of BiG Storage and we are thrilled to have been recognised with these two national awards. We set out to build fantastic facilities and a company that works closely with its local community – we believe these two awards have gone some way recognising some of the great work the team has done.”
